hart is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of stray and abandoned dogs from rural and reserve areas surrounding Edmonton. Additionally, hart works to provide programs that promote responsible pet ownership.
We are a shelterless society that relies entirely on the commitment and compassion of our volunteers. Volunteer foster parents open their homes and hearts to provide basic training and socialization to rescued dogs until forever homes are found.
In addition to rescue efforts, hart volunteers work tirelessly to raise awareness and funds to help more dogs in need.

The K9 Care and Rescue Organization is dedicated to improving the welfare of dogs on a First Nations Reserve near Edmonton. We feed them, attempt to provide medical care and find foster/adoption homes when necessary. On our website, you can fill out the volunteer questionnaire or register your family for foster or adoption care. Please consider donating items, such as dog houses, medical treatments and dog food (or deliveries of these items). We cannot yet accept dollar donations directly, so any donations are redirected to the Barrhead Veterinary Clinic for their generous services. Thank you for your interest. Northern Spirit K9 Rescue is a registered non-profit charitable organization dedicated to helping animals on First Nations Communities in Northern Alberta. We have been assisting with the nourishment, medical attention, and education on First Nations Communities.
During the past year, Northern Spirit K9 Rescue has made a difference in the quality of life for many of the animals on the First Nations reserves. We have placed over 100 unwanted, and injured adult dogs and puppies in furever homes. These are dogs that would have been done away with, and not always humanely, or died from hunger, exposure or abuse. We also provide weekly food drops, vaccination clinics in an effort to stop the spread of parvo and distemper. |
